The Map Stylers

What are point, line, and polygon styles?

You can style and display points, lines, and polygons in a map or scene by defining symbols for features. To style features in a feature layer, you define symbols and apply them with a renderer. Styling points, lines, and polygons is also known as styling features because every feature contains a geometry and is styled with a symbol.

There are many different types of symbols you can use to style features. The type of symbol you use depends on the type of visualization you would like to create.

Draw a Polyline:

A polyline is a list of points, where line segments are drawn between consecutive points. You can create straight line segments, arc segments, or a combination of the two. The following image shows the options available to customise this tool.

Draw a Polygon:

A polygon map is a data object used to store spatial geographic information that consists of polygons. Polygon maps can be displayed in map windows, and edited with a map viewer / editor. The following image shows the options available to customise this tool.

Draw a Rectangle:

The Rectangle tool lets you draw rectangle and square shapes. To use the tool, click on the Rectangle tool icon, then click and hold down your mouse button to draw the shape.

Draw a Circle:

Click 'Draw A Circle', then click on the map and drag your cursor to create the circle.

The other tool icons except the aforementioned are self explanatory. The first icon the "arrow" is to select the graphic, the second icon "Draw a location" is to pin a location on the map and the last icon "Recyle Bin" is to clear all the drawings on the map.
